Joe Nathan Thomas Sr., 55, of Forkland, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at HealthSouth Medical Center in Birmingham.

Services were held Sunday, June 16, 2002 at St. Matthew Watson Baptist Church in Boligee with Rev. Robert Davis officiating.

Burial was held in Lloyd Chapel Cemetery in Forkland under the direction of Larkin and Scott Funeral Directors.

He is survived by six sons, Joe Nathan (Terra) Thomas Jr., Ronnie (Celia) Simmons, James Quinney, all of Forkland, Llwellyn Purse of Las Vegas, Nev., Nelson Quinney Jr. of Shreveport, La. and Donald (Kimberly) Quinney of Prattville; five daughters, Diane Thomas and Ava Quinney of Forkland, Laura (Curtis) Jackson, Rosylen (Sean) Elmore, Kukla (Alfred) Chestang, both of Birmingham, Veronica (Martin) Leftridge of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one brother, Isom (Dorothy) Thomas of Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Rosie (Jimmy) Sears of Forkland and Gloria (Andrew) Croom of Tuscaloosa; five aunts, six uncles, a mother-in-law, Emma G. Simmons of Forkland; three brothers-in-law; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other realtives and friends.
