From Staff Reports

The Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce will hots the "River City Rumble" July 19 and 20 at the City Landing.

Jim Parr, event organizer, is pleased to see a speed boat race brought back to Demopolis. "Thanks to J.R. Suttles, we were able to get the ODBA (Outboard Drag Boat Association) to host an event here," he said. "These two-day events are very popular and should bring in people from all over the area."

The chamber is working now through the permitting process with the Marine Police, Cirps of Engineers, Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary, the City of Demopolis Parks and Recreaton Department and the Demopolis Yacht Basin.

Over 100 boats are expected to participate in the two-day event. For more information, contact the chamber office at 289-0270.
