March 1 deadline for center openings

Officials at Alabama Southern Community College continue to accept applications for job openings at the new High Education Center in Demopolis.

The center will be located on the grounds of the SportsPlex. Construction continues on the site, and the center is expected to open in fall 2004.

Applications will be accepted up to March 1, said Roger Chandler, vice president of finance and administrative services at Alabama Southern. The college is advertising the job openings statewide. A search committee will be appointed, he said, to choose final candidates, and then the interview process will begin.

The Demopolis center will be a branch campus of Alabama Southern where degrees are offered and the type of courses must be maintained for accreditation.

There will be full-time personnel on staff as well as numerous adjunct instructors who may be drawn from the University of West Alabama, the University of Alabama or school systems in the area.

Positions at the Demopolis center available include Campus Coordinator/Trio Project Specialist;

Instructor of Mathematics;

Instructor of Biology;

Instructor of History;

Instructor of Business

Instructor of English;

Adult Education Instructors;

Campus Secretary;

and Library Assistant.
