23-year-old dies after car wreck

A three-vehicle accident Wednesday night in Perry County claimed the life of a Marion man.

Larry Owens Averette, 23, of Marion, was killed in an accident at occurred Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 5 and County Road 47, according to the Alabama Department of Public Safety.

He was the only occupant in a 1988 GMC pickup truck.

Two other vehicles were involved in the accident including a 1994 Kenworth truck driven by David Abrams of Tuscaloosa and a 2002 Nissan driven by Mary Clements of Marion.

Abrams sustained minor injuries, but Clements was not injured.

No other details were available. The case is under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.
