LINDEN &045;&045; The Grinch has struck at Marengo Academy.

Marengo Academy students and officials and law enforcement officers are trying to discern who has a cold enough heart to break into the school and steal money that was raised for a good cause.

Project Merry Christmas is a county wide effort that collects toys and money to purchase Christmas gifts to give to those who can’t afford Christmas.

Russell said a suspect has not been identified yet, but said the school and the police department are investigating the incident.

At this time officials are not sure whether the thief is a student or adult, but Russell said either way the culprit, when caught, would be dealt with.
