17 Demopolis tennis players headed to Sectional play

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Seventeen members of the high school tennis team will compete in the 5A Section 5 tournament at Walker High in Jasper this week. The girls&8217; side of the event takes place today with matches starting at 8 a.m. while the boys will play Thursday.

DHS coach Dana Hill traveled to Walker High Monday with the nine girls who will represent Demopolis High.

Those players will have the opportunity to advance to the state tournament should they perform well in today&8217;s tournament.

Joining them in Jasper are juniors Anna Katherine Stuedeman and Jenny Campbell and sophomores Alexa Beech and Shamoneka Collins, who will fill out the remainder of the squad&8217;s six seeded singles players.

Sydney Hill and Stapp will team up to form the unit&8217;s top doubles tandem while Stueduman and Beech will combine as the No. 2 seed. Sophomores Meredith Price and Cameron Barton will round out the girls&8217; doubles playing as the No. 3 seed.
