Firefighter faces DUI, gun charges

A Demopolis firefighter is facing DUI and gun charges following a Friday afternoon arrest.

Jacob Wayne Hudson, 20, of W. Washington St., Demopolis, was arrested Friday afternoon by Demopolis police.

“We did arrest someone who works for the city on Friday afternoon,” interim Demopolis Police Chief Tim Williams said. “But I don’t think it’s appropriate to discuss this arrest. We don’t disclose details about other DUI arrests.”

But Hudson’s arrest is unusual in that he is a city employee, and one of its newest firefighters. He is a native of Cullman.

He is also charged with carrying a pistol without a permit. Both charges are misdemeanors.

“I don’t have any comment at this time,” Demopolis Fire Chief Ron Few said when contacted by The Times. “I don’t want to make a comment that is premature.”
