Davis now faces federal charges

A Demopolis man faces federal charges after local investigators turned his drug case over to the FBI.

The Demopolis Police Department arrested Cory Davis last Friday. Davis was in possession of more than two ounces of crack cocaine, according to interim DPD Chief Tim Williams.

The amount of the drugs in question raised the stakes from simple possession to trafficking.

“All it takes to make a trafficking charge is more than one ounce,” Williams said.

Davis was arrrested after the DPD searched his residence on 7th Street, south of Arcola road.

Davis was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

“This was a very good bust,” Williams said. We found a large amount of dope. It’s not often we charge someone with trafficking. I was pleased with out officers and the work they did in this arrest. They did a fine job.”
