Approximately 100 people gathered to honor Dixon and witness her being presented the Official State of Alabama Retirement Certificate, signed by Governor Bob Riley, and presented by State Parks Director Mark Easterwood.

In addition, Riley sent Mrs. Dixon a certificate of recognition from his office. Marengo County Commissioner Freddie Armstead presented Dixon with a resolution from the county. Dr. Walter Davis made a presentation on behalf of The Linden Industrial Development Board and Josephine Blackwell was present to do likewise for the Marengo County Economic Development Authority.

The Alabama State Parks Field Staff presented her with an engraved clock and she received many cards and letters extending her best wishes on her retirement.

Dixon will reside near her family in Albertville and anyone wishing to send a card or letter for her memory book may do so by mailing it to 211 Thomas Avenue, Apartment 3, Boaz, AL 35957.
