DPD seeks robbery suspect

The Demopolis Police Department is seeking information about a robbery that took place Monday morning.

Demopolis Police Detective Sgt. Tim Soronen said at approximately 12:45 a.m. Monday morning, the masked suspect entered a convenience store on Highway 80 East. The suspect threatened the clerk on duty with a weapon before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“He was in the store less than a minute,” Soronen said of the suspect who fled the store on foot.

Soronen said the suspect is a black male between the ages of 18-25, is approximately 5’10” and weighs between 160 and 180 pounds.

Police are also seeking the driver of a 2000s model white Ford Taurus, who may be a witness to the crime.

“The car pulled into the parking while the suspect was in the store but drove away when he ran out,” Soronen said. “We’d just like to talk to them as a potential witness to the crime. They may have some information that is helpful.”
