Marengo High School (0-3) plays its first home game Friday night, playing host to the Fruitdale Pirates (2-1).

Panthers head coach Dredrick Bell said that he feels his team is making a lot of improvements and the team could begin to really gel at any time.

“I feel like we got a lot better last week against John Essex,” Bell said, “and we need to go out and minimize our mistakes and play our game. This is a very winnable game for us. We are about to turn the corner.”

He said that last week against John Essex, his team gave up a couple of big runs on defense, but other than that, he was fairly pleased with their performance.

“We need to tackle better and keep improving,” he said. “We are on the right track and doing what we need to do to become successful.”
