They will host the fall revival Oct. 8-10 at 6 p.m. nightly with Dr. O. W. Davis of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Huntsville as guest speaker.

“The leadership classes promote leadership within the church,” Pastor Fred Moore said. “The theme for the leadership conference is, “The Meeting Place was Shaken,” taken from Acts 4:31.”

The leadership conference classes including class titles, “There is Power in Brokenness,” “The Yield of a Servant’s Prayer,” “Are You in a Place for a Shaking?” “Bold Preaching” and “Shaking with the Lord.”

The idea to bring a leadership conference of this type to Demopolis came from colleagues of Moore, who discussed with him their desire to attend conferences similar to ones he visited in various places such as Louisiana and Georgia.

“I thought then, if they can’t go,” he said. “I could bring the conference to them.”

He said he then called on friends to assist him in starting the conference and people from everywhere came to help.

Over time, the conference has discussed issues about health, finance, church leadership roles and a host of other things.

“It has become more expansive than just preaching, but it has a holistic approach to ministering,” he said. “Because Christianity is really about others.”

The classes are uniquely partnered with the revival this year, as Moore said he feels the classes fused nicely with the spiritual element brought by the revival.

Pastor Fred Moore has seen substantial growth in the church since he first took on the pulpit as pastor 27 years ago.

“When I started we had about 36 active members,” he said. “Now, we have about 400 members. God has truly been good to us,” he said.

The church has a health ministry, nursing home ministry and seek to promote the Gospel to the whole person.

Christian Chapel is located at 500 W. Decatur St. in Demopolis.
