Sheila Rodgers and Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese help a line of community members at Christian Chapel Baptist Church seniors luncheon sign up for the Yellow Dot program.

Christian Chapel Baptist Church held a monthly luncheon on Tuesday where seniors were signed up for the Yellow Dot program.

Yellow Dot program participants receive a “Yellow Dot” decal for their vehicle and a “Yellow Dot” folder and an information form with their name, photo, emergency contact information and any pre-existing health conditions that would aid first responders in the case of an accident.

“The program is a good program to have,” Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese said.

Reese also stressed that even though people may know who you are in the community, they may not know your health conditions in the case of an accident.

He also joked saying, “Not many things in life are free, but this is.”

Husband and wife Jesse and Hattie Moore are shown signing up for the yellow dot program.

The free program is available, not only to seniors, but to anyone who wants to sign up.

Chief Reese along with DPD representatives aided with the sign-up at the luncheon, but community members can come by the department to sign up if interested.
