Conference prepares people to be caregivers

The Marengo County Cooperation Extension Office and Comfort Care Hospice will soon host a workshop for caregivers.

The conference will be titled “Alabama Home Caregiver: A Resource to Assist the Home Care Provider.” It will be held on Oct. 25-26 at the University of West Alabama Higher Education Center in Demopolis from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The two-day conference is designed to improve knowledge and skills in caring for aging or disabled people in the home.

Professionals will address roles, responsibilities, aging, elder law, personal wellness, health monitoring, food safety, dementia and stress management among a host of other things.

The first 40 registered participants will receive a free resource binder, breakfast, lunch, snacks and materials pertaining to each topic.

Many local businesses have donated door prizes for daily drawings.
