Sweet Water (8-2, 7-0) hosts the Samson Tigers (6-4, 4-3) on Friday night in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs.

The Bulldogs are the No. 1 seed after a perfect region season. Head coach Stacy Luker said nothing changes in his team’s preparation going into the playoffs.

“We don’t change anything in practice,” he said. “We just have to get ourselves prepared.”

Luker said Samson is a good team with a good quarterback that they will have to contain.

“They’re a good team,” he said. “We just have to work on us. They have a good quarterback that they run their offense through. He throws well and they run the option with him. They make you defend the whole field.”

Luker added that he feels that his team matches up well in size with the Tigers and that his team has to stay focused on what they have to do.

The Bulldogs are competing in their first Class 2A playoffs this season. Last year, they lost to Linden in the fourth round of the Class 1A playoffs.
