UPDATED: Police make four more arrests in drug operation

The Demopolis Police Department have made another arrest in conjunction with the recent undercover drug operation “Gemini.”

Anthony D. James was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 27 for distribution of a controlled substance.

DPD recently made four more arrests in conjunction with the recent undercover drug operation “Gemini,” which resulted in 20 arrests earlier this month.

Those names include:

•Travis Dewayne Rowser, one count of distribution of a controlled substance

•Justin Ray Hall, two counts of distribution of a controlled substance

•Milton James Daniels, one count of distribution of a controlled substance, one count of possession of controlled substance, escape III, ex- felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property III and possession of drug paraphernalia

•Derrick Cartez Simmons, one count of distribution of a controlled substance

For the past 14 months, the Demopolis Police Department has been working on the undercover operation, which concluded Nov. 20 with the arrest of 20 people on distribution of controlled substance charges, including marijuana, crack cocaine and prescription drugs.

Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese said that numerous arrests are still expected as officers continue picking up suspected drug dealers. He noted that although this operation has come to a close, that another began several months ago.

Chief Reese wanted to thank all the agencies involved in the roundup, which included officers from the Demopolis Police Department, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the Marengo County Sheriff’s Office, the Alabama Beverage Control Board (ABC), the 4th Circuit Drug Task Force and the Selma Police Department.
