The Linden City Council met Tuesday evening and conducted interviews for the open City Clerk position.

The council hired Staci Jordan of Linden to fill the position. She will start on Thursday, Nov. 29. Current city clerk Cheryl Hall will train Jordan before she retires.

Hall announced her retirement in October. She originally planned to leave at the first of November, but the new mayor, Charles Moore, asked that she stay until the new year so they can find a new clerk.

Mayor Charles Moore said he has known Jordan for a long time and that he thinks she will fit in well.

“I’ve been knowing her a long time,” he said, “and she is very energetic and knowledgeable. Being new, she will have a lot to learn, but she has a great personality that will work well with the public. I am looking forward to moving Linden along.”

They also voted and approved moving the start time for city council meetings to 4:30 p.m. instead of 6 p.m., which they agreed upon in the previous meeting.

They interviewed several candidates Tuesday night in an executive session.
