Citizens concerned about fire department to approach city councilBy Brittney Knox Published 10:35am Tuesday, December 4, 2012
Citizens concerned about the Demopolis Fire Department will approach the Demopolis City Council on Tuesday and ask the council to reconsider their decision to not reappoint Ronnie Few as fire chief.
The citizens held a meeting Thursday night at Christian Chapel Baptist Church to discuss the direction they wanted to go with their efforts.
“I felt the meeting was very productive and that the proper information was put forth in that meeting,” said former city councilmen Thomas Moore, who helped organized Thursday’s meeting.
Moore said pastor Fred Moore of Christian Chapel Baptist Church will approach the council on Tuesday to ask them to reconsider their decision to not reappoint Few.
“It is well documented of his (Few’s) accomplishments. We have been saying the same thing over and over, it just doesn’t make sense,” Moore said.
Moore went on to say this is not a racial issue, but there are a lot of people not satisfied with the council’s decision.
The Demopolis City Council will meet Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 5:15 p.m. at Rooster Hall.
