Bertia Smith Coleman

Bertia Smith Coleman, 100, died Nov. 21 at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Northport. Graveside services were conducted by the Rev. Arthur Thomas on Friday, Nov. 23 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetry in Hale County at 11 a.m. with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

A native of Hale County, she was born July 1, 1912, and resided in Uniontown for many years, where she was a member of Uniontown United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Richard and Annie Gills Smith; her husband, Clyde M. Coleman; sisters, Lena Thomas, Fannie Sims, Essie Green, Zettie Cummings and brother, Clarence E. Smith.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were Bob A. Grubbs, B.C. Merkle, and the caring staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home where she was a resident for many years.
