The Demopolis Fire Department has teamed up with Dollar General to donate Christmas gifts to different communities in the area.

DFD administrative assistant Vanessa Watson said the fire fighters are going out to different communities and giving Christmas gifts to those that may not have a way to get out.

“We do this every year,” she said, “but this is the first time we have teamed up with Dollar General. A lot of people can’t get out because of a disability or lack of transportation or family support, so we go into the communities and give them gifts. The firefighters get a kick out of doing it.”

She added that giving these gifts is all about “showing love at Christmas time for those that are less fortunate.”
