Winter storm watch in effect north of Marengo

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for central Alabama, north of Marengo County.

Rainfall is expected to change over to snow around 6 a.m. Thursday moving in from the west. This is expected to last until early Thursday afternoon. One-half to two inches is expected north of a line from Aliceville to Jemison to Roanoke, but there could be a couple of areas that receive up to four inches in a short period of time.

In Marengo County, there is still a river flood warning in effect through the weekend. The rain is predicted to last into Thursday afternoon before it moves out. There is a slight chance of a wintery mix in Marengo County.
