The final Alabama Sports Writers Association basketball poll was released Thursday, and there are two Marengo County teams represented in the top-10 of their respective classes.

The Linden Patriots boys’ team (20-2) is ranked No. 7 in the Class 1A boys poll.

The Marengo Panthers girls team (15-2) is ranked No. 5 in the Class 1A girls poll.

The AISA is no longer in the ASWA polls for the season because the state tournament is already underway.

The Linden boys host John Essex in the area tournament on Friday night and the Marengo Lady Panthers play McIntosh in their area tournament, which is hosted by St. Luke’s.
