Two UWA women named to All-South Region teams

LIVINGSTON – West Alabama guard Nikkia Jordan has been named as a first team selection to the 2012-13 Daktronics All-South Region women’s basketball team. Her teammate Brittany Weathers was a second team choice.

A first-team All-Gulf South Conference selection, Jordan averaged 19.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for the Tigers this season. The 2012 GSC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, the senior from Decatur was named to the 2013 All-GSC Tournament team after averaging 19.3 points and 5.7 rebounds as UWA made a run to the tourney finals.

Weathers, a senior from Hattiesburg, Miss., battled a foot injury all season but still managed to average 17.7 points and 6.0 rebounds. Also a first-team All-GSC choice, Weathers was named to the All-GSC Tournament team as well after averaging 16.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in the three-game tournament run.

Rounding out the first team are Kira Harvey of Lynn, Jasmine Hammon of Alabama-Huntsville, Mexiandra Porter from Nova Southeastern and Courtney English of Miles. Joining Weathers on the second team are Kayk Wilson of Florida Tech, Teresa, Manigrasso from Saint Leo, Krystal Charles of Eckerd and Danielle Robinson from Nova Southeastern.

The Division II Daktronics All-American Women’s Basketball Team will be announced March 22. First team members from each of the nation’s eight regions are placed on the ballot. A first, second and third team will be chosen.
