Charles L. Shields, 71, of Linden died March 29 at his home. He was born Dec. 31, 1941 in Thomasville. He was a retired environmentalist for the Alabama Department of Public Health.

He is survived by wife, Patricia W. Shields of Linden; daughter, Paige Shields Stafford of Houston, Texas; son-in-law John Stafford of Houston, Texas; and grandchildren Nathan Thomas Noe and Harper Hyde Noe both of Houston, Texas.

Graveside funeral services were held at Magnolia Cemetery on Sunday, March 31 at 1:30 p.m. with Paul Whitcomb officiating.

Pallbearers were John Holley, Leonard Mosley, Mike Deloach, William Braswell, Leon Glass, Bobby Bedsole, Larry Shields, Ellis Shields, Velpo Waldrope and James Waldrope.
