Paul Adolphus Moore

Paul Adolphus Moore, 93, of Marion passed away Tuesday, March 26.

He was a dairy farmer for many years in Perry County and also operated a family-owned seed and fertilizer business in Marion. He was a gifted athlete and attended Troy State University on a football and baseball scholarship until the outbreak of World War II. During WWII, he served in the Army-Air Force European theatre. He was an avid golfer who played at every opportunity, usually preferring to walk. He enjoyed all sports, especially Auburn football. He loved vegetable gardening in addition to caring for his dairy cattle. He enjoyed history, reading and fishing. As a dedicated husband and father, he used his quiet nature to set an example for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane Bolling Moore; brother, William Swan Moore; and parents, Dr. Adolphus and Lottie Swan Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Alma Bolling Moore; sons, Joseph Eugene (Em) Moore of Selma, and Don Paul (Anne) Moore of Prattville; brother, Dr. Edward (Kathleen) Moore of Ashville, N.C.; sisters, Marjorie Reinecke of Demopolis, and Dorothy (Bill) Burton of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Mary Bethel (Bob) Frazer, Joseph Seawell (Amanda) Moore, Lauren Elizabeth (Jason) Rome, and Joshua Alexander Moore; great-grandchildren, Robert Woodfin Frazer Jr., Mary Emily Frazer and Joseph Paul Rome.

Visitation will be held at Marion United Methodist Church on Thursday, March 28 at 10 a.m. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Misty Roberts and Jim Waters Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Marion cemetery. Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Pallbearers will be Joe Seawell Moore, Bob Frazer, Joshua Moore, Jason Rome, Dudley Barton and Charles Collum Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are Charles Collum Sr. and Paul Wheeler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marion United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
