Matthew Hunter Callahan, 17, of Sweet Water died Tuesday, April 9 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

He was born June 13, 1995, in Tuscaloosa. He was a student at Shelton State Community College and was a member of the Sweet Water Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lois Brown Hammond.

He is survived by his parents, Bobby and Lisa Hammond Callahan of Sweet Water; his sister, Ashley Callahan of Sweet Water; grandparents, Curry and Betty Callahan of Sweet Water; and grandfather, John Hammond of Palmetto.

Funeral services were held at Crossroads Community Church on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glenn Akridge officiating. Burial was at Sweet Water Cemetery in Sweet Water.

Active pallbearers were Joe Hammond, Matthew Walker, Ross Callahan, Mike McDaniel, James Cobb and Jeffrey Green.
