Mary Griffin Auburtin, 88, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, April 17 at Southland Nursing Home in Marion.

She was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Perry County to the late James Corbett and Annie Lee Harris Griffin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Auburtin Jr., and her parents, James Corbett and Annie Lee Harris Griffin.

She is survived by her son, George B. Auburtin III of Marion; sisters, Mildred G. Yelverton of Dothan, Rebecca Culpepper of Demopolis and Elizabeth Griffin of Augusta, Ga.; grandchildren, George B. Auburtin IV of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Joel Brian Auburtin of Montgomery; and great-grandchildren, Mary Wallace Auburtin and Miller Ann Auburtin, both of Montgomery.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. at St. Wilfrid’s Episcopal Church in Marion with the Revs. Dan Thornton and Rob Morpeth officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Charles Holmes, Dr. William Shane Lee, Leroy Moore, Mason Richards, Clyde Yelverton, Jim Yelverton, Tom Culpepper and Steve Griffin.
