UWA to host golf tournament for academic excellence

LIVINGSTON — The University of West Alabama Office of Alumni Relations and the National Alumni Association will host a summer golf tournament on June 22 to support academic programs at UWA. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams of the two-person scramble.

The annual UWA/Coca Cola Academic Excellence Golf Tournament, sponsored by Meridian Coca-Cola Bottling Co., is set for Saturday, June 22, at the Livingston Country Club. All proceeds from the tournament will benefit the academic departments at UWA.

The tournament is a two-person scramble, with tee time at 9 a.m. and onsite registration at 8 a.m. The cost is $150 per team and includes a Diamond Jim’s barbecue sandwich lunch. Snacks will be provided throughout the tournament. Teams that sign up by June 14 will receive two free mulligans. Otherwise, two mulligans are allowed for $5 each. Players are asked to bring their own golf carts.

Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place teams. The team finishing in first place will receive a pair of $50 gift cards from Academy Sports+Outdoors. Second place will receive a pair of $35 gift cards from Academy Sports+Outdoors. Third place will receive a pair of camping chairs from the UWA Bookstore. Additional door prizes will also be awarded to players.
