First Baptist Church of Demopolis led a prayer walk Sunday to pray for the schools, teachers, students and upcoming year in Demopolis.

More than 100 participants met at First Baptist Church on Sunday evening and split into five groups. One group stayed at the church to pray and other groups went to Westside Elementary, U.S. Jones Elementary, Demopolis Middle School and Demopolis High School.

Members of First Baptist Church participated in the walk as well as many teachers and parents of school children.

“Our turn out was even better then last year,” said Pastor Carl Williams. “It was nice to see that all members of the community wanted to be involved and wanted to pray with us.”

Participants prayed outside the schools and walked the halls praying for students and teachers.

“We are thankful to the participants for their time and prayers and to the schools for opening up their halls,” said Williams. “The schools were very receptive to our want to do this, and we appreciate it so much.”
