LIVINGSTON – The University of West Alabama football team is ranked No. 13 in the 2013 Preseason D2Football.com Poll, which was released Monday.

The Tigers, ranked 16th by the American Football Coaches Association, open the season Saturday against Clark Atlanta at Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. and the GSC-TV LIVE Network will televise the game.

West Alabama finished the 2012 season 9-4 overall and 5-0 on the way to the school’s first outright Gulf South Conference championship. The Tigers opening day opponent, Clark Atlanta, finished 2-8 last season, including a 44-0 loss to UWA.

The Tigers are one of two GSC teams in the D2Football.com Top 25. Defending national champion Valdosta State, which eliminated UWA in the NCAA Division II Playoffs, comes into the year as the top ranked team in the nation. UWA defeated VSU during the 2012 regular season.
