A salvage crew works Wednesday to retrieve a ski boat that has been stranded on rocks below the Demopolis dam for more than two weeks.

The ski boat that went over Demopolis dam during Labor Day weekend is off its rocky perch.

Salvage crews worked Wednesday to retrieve the boat that went over the  dam 17 days ago, on Sunday, Sept. 1.

Leonard Jordan of Arlington survived the 25-foot fall with minor injuries and was back at Lower Pool Park on Wednesday. He was the only person on the boat as it went over the dam.

The yellow ski boat ran aground on limestone rocks after going over the dam and has stayed there while insurance and plans for retrieving it were worked out.

The Demopolis Fire Department and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were on the scene Wednesday watching part of the retrieval process.
