Wallace Foote Drury

Wallace Foote Drury, 88, passed away Monday, Sept. 16 at home.

He was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Greensboro. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1943. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he enrolled in Auburn University and graduated with a degree in agricultural and dairy science. Upon graduation, he returned to his family’s farm and was engaged in its operation until his retirement in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wathen and Mary Elizabeth Foote Drury; and his brother, Charles Moreman Drury.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Barbara Robertson Drury of Greensboro; daughter, Dena Drury (Robert) Prince of Tuscaloosa; sons, Wallace Foote (Anne Burt) Drury Jr. and Charles Brady (Barbara) Drury, both of Greensboro; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth (Bradford) Garvey of New York, N.Y., Willis Drury Prince of Tuscaloosa, Grace Robertson Prince of Tuscaloosa, Leah Elizabeth Drury of Pensacola, Fla., Walla Foote (Sarah Beth) Drury III of Tuscaloosa, Jenny Drury (Jimmy) West of Tuscaloosa, and Charles Brady Drury Jr. of Tuscaloosa; and great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Garvey, Lily Grace West and Hudson Dean West.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Greensboro with Dr. Nathan Elliott officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes directing.

Pallbearers were Charles Brady Drury Jr., Wallace Foote Drury III, Clint Robertson Crawford, Norris Crawford, Chris Burnette and Henry Cabil.
