The headline game for week five will be the rivalry game between the Demopolis Tigers and the Thomasville Tigers Friday night in Demopolis.

Demopolis (3-1, 2-1) comes into the game following a 35-12 win over Selma. Thomasville (2-2, 1-2) enters the week coming off of a 20-17 loss to Andalusia.

Demopolis head coach Tom Causey said his team needs to stay focused to be successful Friday night.

“The game can go either way,” he said. “We’ve got to be focused, and I think our loss to Saraland will help us with that. We know we can’t worry about Friday until we take care of what we need to do before then.”

He added that Thomasville is a team that works hard and always brings their best.

“They play extremely hard,” he said. “They are coached very well, and they are a no excuses football team. They do their job, and they’re physical.”

Causey said Thomasville has a strong linebacker corps that has a lot of speed.

Other teams around the county playing at home this week are A.L. Johnson, John Essex and Marengo Academy.

The Eagles (3-1, 2-1) will host Ellwood Christian (2-2, 2-1). ALJ is coming off of a 36-22 win over J.U. Blacksher.

The Hornets (0-4, 0-3) host Autaugaville (3-1, 3-0), and they are still looking for their first win of the season. Last week, John Essex lost to St. Luke’s Episcopal by a score of 35-0.

Marengo Academy (4-0, 2-0) looks to extend their winning streak this week as they take on Wilcox Academy (3-1, 1-0). The Longhorns dominated Patrician Academy last week in a 37-0 win on the road.

Linden, Sweet Water and Marengo will all be on the road for week five’s non-region schedule.

The Patriots (3-1, 3-0) will travel to Bibb County (4-0, 3-0) this week. Linden shut out McIntosh last week at home.

Sweet Water (3-1, 3-0) will take to the road to Maplesville (4-0, 3-0) to try to win their fourth straight game of the season.

The Marengo Panthers (3-1, 3-0) travel to Akron (2-2, 1-2) Friday night. They’re looking for their fourth straight win as well.
