Frances Martin, 73, of Demopolis, died Friday, Oct. 18 at her home.

She was born March 4, 1940, to the late Hilary and Stella Carpenter. She was a devoted mother, a loving wife and a wonderful gran gran.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilary and Stella Carpenter; and brother, C.J. Carpenter.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Martin; brother, Jim Carpenter of Montgomery; daughters, Twyla (Doug) Summerford of Columbus, Miss., and Katrina (Scott) Stapp of Demopolis; and two grandchildren, Hillary Stapp and Sarah Martin Stapp.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Demopolis with the Rev. Carl Williams and Jim Carpenter officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Demopolis Chapel directing. Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m., and burial followed the service at Demopolis Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Buddy McPherson, Jimmy Gross, Ed Sasser, Byron Doster Jr., Harold Arnold and Don Sprewell.

Honorary pallbearers were the Joy Sunday School Class and longtime friend Georgette Tidmore Griffith.
