Several local churches holding Christmas programs

Several local churches are holding various Christmas programs over the next week and a half before Christmas Day.

Demopolis First United Methodist Church is holding two children’s plays on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m.

The first play is “Jesus: The Light of the World,” and it will be performed by children age 3 to kindergarten. The second play to be performed will be “The Christmas Shoe Tree,” and it will be performed by first- through twelfth-graders.

Admission to the plays is a pair of shoes, new or used, and $1 to cover shipping costs for the donation. The shoes are being donated through www.soles4souls.org.

First Baptist Church of Demopolis Choir will perform a “Christmas is Jesus” program on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. They will also hold a children’s musical Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m., and they will hold a service on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m.

The New Morning Star Baptist Church Choir will sponsor a praise, worship and Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. The choir consists of members from several area churches. The guest musician will be the Rev. Ashford Jackson from Eastern Star Baptist Church.

Christian Chapel Baptist Church will hold a children’s program on Sunday, Dec. 22 during their 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The Saint Paul Baptist Church Music and Cultural Art Ministry will hold an evening of praise Christmas concert, “The Birth of the King,” on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. The church is located at 1809 Old Springhill Road in Demopolis.

The Gallion Baptist Church Adult Choir will present “Bethlehem Morning” by Russell Mauldin and Sue Smith on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. A covered dish supper will follow the worship service.

Trinity Episcopal Church is holding Christmas Eve services at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. During the 6 p.m. service, children in the church will perform a nativity play.
