Ilene L. Smith, 85, of Calera, died Thursday, Jan. 2 at Hatley Health Care, Inc., in Clanton.

She was born May 11, 1926 in Dogwood. She was a member of the Rangeline Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith; son, Billy Smith; daughter, Dorothy Ann Johnson; and grandson, Billy Ray Smith.

She is survived by her sons, James Ray (Debra) Smith of Linden, and Larry Smith of Columbiana; daughters, Sarah (William) Nicholas of Fuquay Varnia, N.C., Bonnie (Junior) Trotter of Calera, and Carolyn Brymen of Calera; daughter-in-law, Frances Spidle of Gallion; brother, David (Carol) Clark of Selma; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granchildren.

Funeral services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial was at Demopolis Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers were Shane Carroll, Jimmy Smith, Tony Peyton, Curtis Lucas, Lonnie Lucas, Brandon Steadham, Joey Foxhall and Christopher Carroll.
