A single-car crash Wednesday in south Marengo County claimed the life of a Thomasville man.

Samuel Pugh, 20, was killed when the 2005 Nissan Altima he was driving left the roadway and overturned. The accident happened at 10 p.m. on Marengo County 20, two miles south of the Nicholsville community.

Pugh wasn’t wearing a seat belt. Sgt. Steve Jarrett said preliminary investigation shows alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
