The Robertson Banking Company downtown branch was robbed just before noon Tuesday.

At 11:48 a.m., a man entered the branch, jumped the teller counter and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is a black man, described as tall, about 6’2″, and slender. He was last seen wearing a dark colored windbreaker, blue jeans and a white hat.

Police say the man did not brandish a weapon during the robbery. However, he did knock a bank employee to the floor while escaping on foot. The employee was not injured and stayed on the job.

The FBI and Alabama Bureau of Investigations are helping with the case.

DPD Chief Tommie Reese asks anyone with information about the suspect or robbery to contact the department’s Tip Line at (334) 289-1475.
