Causey, four local players picked for All-Star gameBy Staff Reports Published 3:44pm Friday, May 9, 2014
Demopolis High School football coach Tom Causey will serve as an assistant coach for the South football squad in the North-South All-Star Football game.
The game will be played in July during the All-Start Sports Week in Montgomery.
Four local players were chosen for the South team. Those are Hollis Bright, Roderick Davis and Peyton Pearson from Demopolis and Demarcus Gamble from Sweet Water.
The head coach will be Trent Taylor from Straughn High School in Covington County.
Other coaches on staff include Adam Winegarden of Fairhope, Phil Lazenby of Bayside Academy, Randy Ragsdale of Trinity Presbyterian, Mike Battles Jr., of Tallassee, Norman Dean of Elmore County and Michael Summers of Alabama Christian, who will serve as administrative coach.
The North squad coach is Keith Etheredge of Leeds. It’s interesting to note that Leeds defeated Straughn in the state semifinals last fall.
This year’s game will be held on July 24 at Montgomery’s Cramton Bowl.
The South squad leads the North 29-23-2 in the series, which began in 1948.
