The Social Security Administration announced Thursday the most popular baby names in Alabama for 2013. Emma and William topped the list.

The top five boys and girls names for 2013 in Alabama were:

•William, Mason, James, John and Elijah

•Emma, Ava, Olivia, Madison and Isabella.

Those names differ from the most common names nationwide.

Carolyn W. Colvin, Acting Commissioner of Social Security, announced last week that Noah and Sophia were the most popular baby names in the U.S.
