Six students have been honored as recipients of $1,500 scholarships from the Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital Auxiliary at its annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.

The auxiliary also recognized its Volunteer of the Year, voted on by members. For the first time, the award went to two people because of a tie vote. Recipients were Marge Reinecke and Hester Brown.

All the scholarships went to students who are studying or plan to study in a healthcare field. Receiving the Carolyn S. McCormick Award for children and grandchildren of Tombigbee Healthcare Authority (THA) employees were Jeremy Chu and Bailey Petrey.
