Demopolis Police respond to armed robbery

Officials with the Demopolis Police Department responded to an armed robbery call at a local business early Saturday morning.
The robbery occurred at Marvin’s on Hwy. 80 East when a man allegedly brandished a weapon, pointing it at employee and demanded money. According to reports cash and checks were taken from the scene. The amount of money taken is not being disclosed at this time.
According to DPD Police Chief Tommie Reese, the department received a call through dispatch at 8:35 a.m. and officers arrived on the scene two minutes later at 8:37. The robber had already left the scene.
Reese said no one was injured in the incident.
At this time, the police chief said the case is still under investigation and that more details will be provided at a later date.
