Lauren Scott Yelverton and John Wesley Curl were married on Dec. 12, 2015 at Saint Francis at the Point Anglican Church in Point Clear, Alabama. Rev. Doctor Alan W. McBride officiated the 6:30 in the evening ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Laymon Myres Yelverton of Linden, Alabama. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Warren Scott of Linden, Alabama, Mrs. Margaret Yelverton Johnson of Pelham, Alabama, and the late Mr. Laymon Myres Yelverton, Sr.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. David Myron Lee of Orange Beach, Alabama and the late Mr. Mark Hollis Curl of Camden, Alabama. The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mark Simmons, Jr. of Belzoni, Mississippi, and the late Mr. John Harwood Emrich, Jr., Mrs. Marvin Hollis Curl of Camden, Alabama and the late Mr. Marvin Hollis Curl.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an elegant off-the-shoulder Monique Lhuillier couture ivory gown fully adorned with French Alencon lace. Her cathedral length train and veil were also accented with hand appliqued Alencon lace. The bride wore her grandmother’s diamond pendant necklace and carried an heirloom handkerchief from her great-grandmother.
The bride’s sister, Lee Ann Yelverton Bryant, of Charlotte, North Carolina served as matron of honor. She wore an elegant charcoal cowl-back sequined gown.
Bridal attendants were Jane Fuller Barnett of Birmingham, Mary Katherine Bartoli of Charlotte, North Carolina, Katherine Waters Carter of Birmingham, Randall McKell Copeland of Mobile, Allison Anne Garstecki of Mobile, Margaret Weatherly Lyons of Washington, DC, Louise Crow Oliver of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Emily Rucker Sawyer of Birmingham, and Lizzy Thomas Yates of Birmingham.
The groom’s brother, William Parker Emrich of Jasper, Alabama, served as best man. The groom’s brothers, Adam Emrich, of Fairhope, Mark Hagen Curl of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Matthew Hunter Curl of Wallops Island, Virginia served as ushers.
Michael Frank Barnett, Jr. of Birmingham, Jay Patrick Bryant of Charlotte, North Carolina, David Myron Lee of Orange Beach, Steven Andrew Oliver of Colorado Springs, Colorado, John Browning Rockwell, Jr. of Washington, DC, and Matthew Daniel Sawyer of Birmingham, served as the groom’s attendants.
The groom’s nieces, Ann Parker Emrich of Jasper and Jane Addison Emrich of Fairhope, served as program attendants.
Music was provided for the ceremony by the Atkinson String Duo, organist Lizanne Harbuck, and soloist Philip W. Guinn.
A reception and dance honoring the bride and groom were held at The Grand Hotel following the ceremony.
Following a wedding trip, the couple will reside in Mountain Brook, Alabama.
