Activation may loom for Guard unit

Published Tuesday, October 7, 2008

A National Guard unit in Demopolis may be gearing up for mobilization.

The Alabama National Guard 2101st Transportation Company in Demopolis has received notification to begin training, something Alabama National Guard public affairs analyst Norman Arnold said typically precedes mobilization.

Arnold said the company is used to transport supplies from the rear and forward areas of military operations using tractor-trailer trucks.

“They will be trained for convoy operations,” he said.

The company is expected to be training for several weeks to a few months before any mobilization is expected.

it would be very beneficial if someone would inform the 2101st soldiers first.
