County approves funds for drug court

Published Wednesday, June 10, 2009

— The Marengo County Commission ap-proved $2,000 per month for the remainder of the 2008-09 fiscal year to the 17th Judicial Circuit drug court.

Circuit Court Judge Eddie Hardaway and district attorney Greg Griggers appealed to the commission for funding for what they termed as a success in rehabilitating non-violent offenders.

The total funding from the Marengo County Commission totals $8,000 and will help fund the drug court through the end of September. The new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.

Hardaway and Griggers mentioned that the other two counties involved with the judicial circuit, Greene and Sumter, have made some donations to the program.
