Westside Elementary to host grandparents

DEMOPOLIS — Westside Elementary School will host their annual Grandparents Day next week, in conjunction with a week-long book fair.
Kindergarteners will host their grandparents for breakfast beginning at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15. First-graders will take their turn on Sept. 16, and second-graders on Sept. 17, both beginning at 7:15 a.m.
“Our goal with these breakfasts is to increase home/school involvement,” Westside principal Connie Brown said. “The parents stay pretty well up to speed on what’s going on in the classrooms, but this gives the grandparents an opportunity to get involved.”
The book fair will last all week and serve as a fundraiser for the school’s library and accelerated reading materials.
