PTA holds first meeting of the year

DEMOPOLIS — The Demopolis Elementary Parent-Teacher Association held its first meeting on Monday at U.S. Jones Elementary School.

Westside Elementary principal Connie Brown and U.S. Jones Elementary principal Dr. Tony Speegle spoke on how the PTA functions and what it does for the schools.

Amelia Mackey’s fourth-grade enrichment class created and showed a video it did as a newscast of the school. The video took viewers on a tour of the school. Tyler Ward, Matt Dollar and Malik Moore were the newscasters in the video.

A representative of ALL Kids children’s insurance program spoke to the group about what the program does to help students.

The Demopolis Elementary PTA will have a meeting later in the school year at Westside Elementary School. Those interested in joining the PTA should contact the school or PTA president Pam McKinley at (334) 341-3233.
