Julia S. Whitsett, 89, of Huntsville, formery of Montgomery, died Friday, March 29, 2002.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church in Montgomery with Dr. Karl Stegall officiating.

Laughlin Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was born in 1912 to Thomas Jake and Eunice Shell of Georgiana, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Daniel C. Whitsett. Together they served United Methodist churches in three different conferences for over 40 years.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Abrames of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two sons, Daniel C. Whitsett Jr. of Huntsville and Dr. Stan F. Whitsett of Seattle, Wa.; a brother, Thomas J. Shell of Mobile; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Donations may be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church in Montgomery or Huntingdon College.
