Black received 6,373 votes or 54 percent to Moore’s 5,490 votes or 46 percent.

John (Fish) Crawford Jr. defeated incumbent Charles Moore for the District Three seat on the Marengo County Commission. Crawford received 994 votes or 58 percent, and Moore, 698 votes or 41 percent.

Crawford will take his place on the county commission beginning with the November 11 meeting.

However, many races produced runoff elections which will be held June 25.

Max Joiner and Roosevelt Landrum Jr. will face each other in a runoff for the District Five seat on the Marengo County Commission.

Landrum received 548 votes in Tuesday’s Democratic primary or 36 percent of the vote, and the incumbent Joiner received 305 votes or 20 percent.

In addition, incumbent Earl Hilliard will face challenger Artur Davis in a runoff for U.S. Representative, Seventh Congressional District. District-wide Hilliard gained 43,839 votes or 45 percent, and Davis 42,689 or 44 percent.

Susan Parker will face Julian McPhillips for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senator. Parker received 190,434 votes or 48 percent and McPhillips 169,577 or 43 percent.

The winner of the June 25 runoff will face incumbent Republican Senator Jeff Sessions November 5.

Carol Jean Smith (156,178) and Stephen Black (120,279) for the Democratic nomination for State Treasurer;

Kay Ivey (132,9960 and Lisa Wallace (84,088) for the Republican nomination for State Treasurer;

Nancy Worley (181,385) and Chris Pitts (124,718) for the Democratic nomination for Secretary of State;

Dave Thomas (120,310) and Dean Young (72,385) for the Republican nomination for Secretary of State;

Carolyn Gibson (158,288) and Debbie Corbett (75,459) for the Democratic nomination for State Auditor;

Jim Zeigler (122,834) and Beth Chapman (81,782) for the Republican nomination for State Auditor.
