Janie Long Allen, 98, of Greensboro, died Tuesday, September 17, 2002, at Colonial Haven Care and Rehab Center.

Graveside services were held Friday, September 20, 2002, at Newbern Cemetery with Rev. Alton Phillips officiating and under the direction of Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Lee Allen Jr., who passed away in 1940.

She is survived by two daughters, Anne Allen (Bill) Jay of Newbern and Jane Rogers Allen (Gene) Hewitt of Louisville, Ky.; two sons, Bryant Lee (Donna-Mai) Allen III of Tuscaloosa and Frank Leon (Serena) Allen of Newbern; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one nephew, Thomas Long of Gainesville, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her hnor be made to the Palmer House for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, Miss. 39703-9982.
